#you’re all i have too #shall we talk about how pepper is just as complex and damaged as tony and just as much about rising and rebuilding and pushing #we just see more of tony’s bc he’s iron man #she’s a girl who had nothing; no one else except tony stark; in himself; but also the business; the legacy #she believed in it all because she believed in him #and he believed in her belief so much; believed her way was better than his to the point where#he abdicated his throne; his power of his empire; to her #where he’d built a goddamn iron man suit to prevent obadiah from wresting control #because she - clear eyed clarion call - saw tony stark; man and empire and legacy; for what it could be #and he aspires to that#he didn’t give her his heart or his legacy because he merely loved her #he gave it to her because she was the best hope; the only hope for his world becoming what it could #he’s a mechanic; a prophet; a visionary; but not a leader; not used to interacting with reality #she took his dreams for his empire and could make them a reality; in her own vision; her own interpretation of him #who she loved and saw clearly both for what he was and what he could be #and that’s the only reason; to him; textually stated; the only reason he hasn’t spiralled into obsession and darkness #because of her; and her love yes #but also because of what she sees and how she shapes him and his legacy in ways he never could #she keeps his original vision; his empire; his future pure #she rejects extremis on the basis of it being weaponizable; she is the leader and pioneer of the new stark industries #which carries his hopes for the future and for humanity #actual textual light around which he revolves above the abyss #like #!!! #guys this is not a whiny girlfriend #this is the only human being on earth who can call him back from the dark (okayophelia)

#her little smile there is one of my favourite things in the whole movie
This one moment is why I don’t understand why people think Natasha and Tony have ~bad blood~. Sometimes you employ a bro and make their life a living hell, sometimes stab a bro in the neck and you reveal you were undercover the whole time, but at the end of the day, you take out a few bad guys together and it turns out you’re just bros.
Bros who’ve bonded over how much they want to bang Pepper Potts.
